It’s here! Summer or ‘kauwela’ (pronounced cow-eh-lah) has finally arrived! The longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice was last week and we are quickly coming up to the 4th of July holiday.

I love kauwela….there is something about the longer days and the sun shining that make everything seem more hopeful. I look forward to beach days, eating outdoors, hikes….it all just feels somehow…freeing.

And of course, no kauwela would be complete for me without a trip to Hawaii. I so look forward to my annual trip to the islands during kauwela. For some, it can be too hot in Hawaii during kauwela, but for me…anytime in Hawaii is always a good time.
