Hawaiian Word of the Week: Hana

Now that the days are longer, the sun is shining every day and the weather is warm,  I find myself wanting to be outside more and wanting to play hooky from hana (pronounced: hah-nah) or work.

I enjoy hana…of all kinds. Whether it is my “day” job or hana in the garden on weekends or volunteering for non-profits, there is something incredibly fulfilling when I know I have accomplished a lot of things during the day.

But when the summertime comes around, I find myself longing to be at the beach, instead of in front of my computer. Maybe I’m just longing for the day when I can return to Hawaii (which is only a few weeks away!).

How do you escape your hana?
