Hawaiian Word of the Week: paʻani
/For some, it’s an annual vacation or day trips to the beach. For my family, summer looks like long sunny days spent outdoors. It’s bathing suits all day and scooting/biking/walking till the sun starts to set, running into other neighbors and striking up impromptu conversations and playdates. I love these days the best. Unplanned. Unstructured. Just naturally unfolding.
These boundless days of summer inspired our Hawaiian word of the week, pāʻani [pah-ah-knee], meaning “play.”
