Hawaiian Word of the Week: La `apopo
/Our family has gotten really into the Olympics, cheering for Team USA in all the events, especially gymnastics and swimming. My 6-year-old is now making up her own floor routines in the living room.
I’ve personally enjoyed NBC’s coverage of the Olympians - their motivation and determination, path to Tokyo, plus extra year of training. I was especially moved by the network’s feature on the relationship between the cities of Rikuzentakata and Crescent City. Did anyone catch the story? If not, it’s worth a watch on Peacock. Their story is one of great hope born out of great tragedy. It gives me such hope for a better tomorrow or lā 'āpōpō [lāh āh-pōh-pōh] in Hawaiian.
