What Does Ohana Mean To You?
/I was born and raised in Honolulu. Even though I moved to California, I still call Hawaii my home. It’s not just that my folks still live there, but it’s because everyone is an extension of my family or “ohana” in Hawaiian. In fact, I call everyone either my “aunty” or “uncle.”
When we asked you, our ohana, what ohana means to you, we received a similar response. “Ohana is all the people whom I love, whether we were born to the same parents or not,” replied Nancy Kirwan. “And the little terrier snoring beside me,” she added.
Here at She Lives Aloha one of our guiding principles is that Ohana Tops Everything. It means that some days your family comes first and other days your work family might come first. Meaningful connections come from many parts of our lives and honoring those at appropriate times is what is important.
As we head into the holiday season, we’ll come together with our ohana - everyone from our home and work families to our friends and community. It’s a season full of merriment. We love the traditions, reconnections, and memories made. But it can also be overwhelming with evenings and weekends full of holiday events and parties as well as school activities and performances. That’s why we designed our next kit as a gift to you during the hustle and bustle of the season. You do so much for your ohana, it’s important you receive time for yourself to reflect on the year past and reset for the year ahead.
Interested in snagging a kit for yourself or know someone who could use a little Hawaiian-style self care this season? Preorders open next week on Friday, October 25. A code will be sent to your inbox, extending special pricing to you, our ohana.
