The Scents of Hawaii

Scents can transport you back to a specific moment, to a specific place, to a specific time. I smell eucalyptus and I am instantly transported back to my university, where eucalyptus lined the campus on my way to class. I remember the walk, the buildings, the anticipation of going to my hardest class. The vividness of the memory is powerful.

My trips to Hawaii always include for me a splurge: a spa day to relax. On my first trip to Anara Spa at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, I decided to try their Lilikoi Body Polish treatment. The lilikoi, also known as passion fruit, scent that filled the room at that time was incredibly intoxicating. After my treatment, I asked what product they had used. It was a Passion Fruit Sugar Scrub by a Hilo company called Ola Tropical Apothecary

Ola now has their own spa in Hilo, Hawaii. I can’t wait to try it.

I got home and am always looking for anything Hawaiian to bring back that feeling of calm and peace that I have when I am on the islands. I have candles with a plumeria scent, room spray that smells of pikake….but I couldn’t get over the scent of the Ola Passion Fruit Scrub. Having it at home instantly brought be back to the islands; the scent is intoxicating. But it isn’t just the smell….my skin felt so soft after using the scrub. I was hooked on Ola’s products from there.

Not only does Ola have scrubs, they also have lotions and body butters.

Ola’s products are handmade and locally sourced….which is important for me to support local businesses on the island. It led me to try other products by Ola including their body mists and body butters. Every product left my skin hydrated and the scent of their products are true to the scent: plumeria, passion fruit, pikake, coconut. A little something for everyone!

Creating memories on your vacation to Hawaii have lasting impact. Bring those memories back with the scent of Ola’s Passion Fruit scrub. Try Ola’s products in our Valentine’s Day mini-kit and tell us about which scent brings you back to your Hawaiian experience.
