Hawaiian Word of the Week: Honu
Our Hawaiian word of the week is honu [hoh-noo] or turtle. According to Makana Charters, they are a symbol of wisdom and good luck. As the only native reptile to Hawaii, they are considered to be an aumakua, or guardian spirit.
I’ve always felt an affinity to turtles, which inspired this lettering art. I created it as a reminder to come out of my shell, slow my roll, and always return to the beach. I hope it inspires you to do the same.
