Hawaiian Word of the Week: Kapu
Kapu [kah-poo] is the ancient Hawaiian system of law and order which forbids certain things because of a sacredness associated with it.
In our modern lives, it’s our time that we hold sacred. And yet, if you’re reading this, chances are you’re not protecting it from the endless demands on it: The PTA that needs fundraising assistance for the annual jogathon. The community organization that needs a new chairperson. The soccer team that’s in need of a new team mom.
It’s easy to forget that your time is sacred. We invite you to take a moment to decide how you want to spend your time this week, then be intentional about what you say yes to doing. Give yourself permission to say no. Reclaim your time, and protect it.
